2010/11 Season Schedule
Sunday, January 9
11:00 a.m.
Fausto Romitelli
A short film introduces Fausto Romitelli, as remembered by his colleagues. A conversation about this innovative composer, whose works combine technology and sensuality, follows.
Sunday, February 13
11:00 a.m.
Meet the Composer: Aaron Cassidy
A multimedia presentation by Cassidy explores the connections between American experimental music and other art forms (visual art, poetry, film) through the philosophical model of “deterritorialized” space introduced by modern philosophers.
Sunday, March 27
11:00 a.m.
Performing the Passion
We enter the world of Baroque Passion settings through an absorbing documentary on Bach’s St. John Passion, which will be compared to the lesser known, but equally magnificent, setting by Schütz. Professor R. Guy Erwin, Ph.D., an expert in Reformation and Early Modern theology, will then discuss the reception of the Passion story in the 17th century and today.
Sunday, April 17
11:00 a.m.
The Art of the Canon
Hans Abrahamsen’s Schnee is comprised of 10 canons, one of the oldest musical forms. Composer Marc Lowenstein and artist Rick Bahto explore how composers and filmmakers use the technique of canon in their works and why this fundamental technique has remained influential for centuries.
Note advance date due to Easter.
