Artist Biography
Alison Lowell Oboe
An active performer in contemporary music, Alison has performed as part of the International Ensemble Modern Akademie, The June in Buffalo Contemporary Music Festival, and the Lucerne Festival Academy, among others. As a chamber musician, Alison performs with several groups including the Midnight Winds, a wind quintet with numerous World premiers and a tour of Poland to its credit. Her ensemble Out of Context, specializing in new works and transcriptions, has performed throughout the United States and presented masterclasses at Southern Oregon University and the University of Missouri at Kansas City. As winners of the 2008 Ladies Musical Club of Seattle Competition, Alison and composer/pianist David Plylar presented a program of Plylar's music in a recital tour of Washington state. Alison holds a Bachelors Degree from the Eastman School of Music and a Masters degree from the University of Southern California where she studied with Allan Vogel.
